Since 1989, WEAN has defended our forests, our prairies, our waters, and our essential right to a livable environment. With your support, we've protected Saratoga Woods, Double Bluff Beach, the Pacific Rim Prairie, Trillium Community Forest, Fakkema Farm, the Classic U old growth stand in South Whidbey State Park, and more. Today, we educate and empower people plus work directly with local and state leaders to improve environmentally protective plans, policies, and ordinances. When necessary, we litigate to enforce the laws that protect special places and precious ecosystems upon which our health and lives depend. Given local planning efforts, national threats, and worsening climate consequences, this expertise and effort is particularly vital now.

  • Give in honor or in memory of a friend, place, or loved one

  • Donate through a Donor Advised Fund or an IRA Qualified Distribution

    Simplify your giving, streamline your record-keeping, and be tax-wise by contributing to your charities of choice, including WEAN, through a Donor Advised Fund.  If you're interested in exploring what a DAF makes possible, we recommend consulting your financial advisor or exploring the resources available from Whidbey Community Foundation (Whidbey), the Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation (Camano), or a foundation of your choosing.


    Qualified Charitable Distributions, made directly by the trustee of the IRA to a registered charity, are tax free! Learn more from the IRS or your financial advisor.

  • Donate stocks or bonds

    Your donation of appreciated securities qualifies you for a charitable deducation without capital gains taxation. This can increase your charitable giving power by 15 to 20%! 


    Your financial advisor can help you understand the whys and hows of donating stocks and bonds.  Ask your broker to contact us for the identifying information necessary to initiate a transfer.

  • Ask your employer about corporate matching

    Please reach out to your employer's human resources department to learn if corporate matching is available to you. 


    Many larger employers offer this benefit to their team members, and every year WEAN donors double or triple their impact by asking their employers to match their contributions. 


    Some donors have even gotten a matching program started at  smaller businesses to uplift WEAN and other community organizations.
