Board Of Directors
WEAN is always on the lookout for board leaders in the areas of finance, fundraising and natural sciences.
Whidbey Environmental Action Network is seeking volunteer leaders to join our Board Of Directors.
In its transition from founders’ leadership to a fully staffed organization, WEAN was reorganized under a new Board at the end of 2022. The newly formed Board's first task was to find our Executive Director, Marnie Jackson, who joined the team in April 2023. Marnie has been proactively building relationships with WEAN members and donors, community leaders, peer organizations, elected officials, and county staff, as well as gleaning institutional knowledge, environmental science expertise, and policy background from WEAN’s founders Marianne Edain and Steve Erickson. In early 2024, Marnie brought full time Engagement Director Amanda Bullis to the team.
The Board is now ready to build on this successful transition by growing and diversifying our board with members representative of the identities and backgrounds of our constituents and communities.
Role & Responsibilities
Board members are actively involved in organizational governance, and provide strategic and fundraising support to an exceptional, motivated staff.
Board commitments are flexible but well-defined in order to balance skill and workload distribution among board members.

We are always on the lookout for board leaders in the areas of finance, fundraising and natural sciences.
We also encourage applicants with a background in any of the following: environmental sciences, land use/planning, policy advocacy, environmental law and activism, social and economic justice, and environmental justice.
As our current board members fulfill their term requirements, positions will become available. There are also opportunities to consider for volunteer committees or advisory board positions.
